We all know what happened the last time the Super Bowl was held in Miami. The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears 29-17 and Peyton Manning was named MVP of the game. The end result of Super Bowl XLIV will be the same as the last time the Colts played in Miami for the title. Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison currently hold the record for most receptions (953) and touchdown receptions (112) between a quarterback and wide receiver. Harrison was released before the start of the 2009 season. Wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez was poised to fill the void left by Harrison, but he went down with a season ending knee injury in Week 1. Former Head Coach Tony Dungy retired at the end of last season, and yet Manning still put up one of his best seasons statistically.
The New Orleans Saints, and not the New Orleans Aints, are going to their first Super Bowl in franchise history. A franchise that is so used to losing has finally made it to the big game against the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. The Saints ranked no lower than sixth in any offensive category and led the league in scoring putting up 31..9 points per game. We know Drew Brees and Marques Colston are going to get their stats, but an x-factor to watch for the Saints is Reggie Bush.
There is no blueprint for a Super Bowl Championship. Throughout the long history of the game, many different types of teams have won the Super Bowl. Some have been smash mouth, in-your-face teams with a dominating defense, and some have been Cinderella teams on a hot streak. This year's match-up features two teams that have radically different approaches and makeups.
